And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." - John 8:32

FREEDOM GOSPEL MUSIC GROUP

A group of believers dedicated to the Gospel of Jesus Christ Through Music and Song.

A LITTLE ABOUT US

Freedom Gospel Music Group was started around 1981 by our founder and mentor, Paul Weston., at Bethel Baptist Church in Independence, Missouri.  Initially, the group sang to taped or recorded music, but soon added live music.

The group performs at many local churches revivals, picnics and fairs in the Greater Kansas City  and Independence area.  Never asking for a set fee, but accepting free will offerings to continue it's ministry.

To date, the group has one CD, called "Freedom At Last", which was dedicated to our founder and dear friend, Paul Weston, on our 25th Anniversary

About the Members of Freedom.

Freedom at Last is a compilation of favorite Southern Gospel songs performed over the years by the Freedom Gospel Group from Independence, Missouri. The group has been singing in the Kansas City area since the early 80s. Upon the urging of gospel fans in area churches, the group presents their first recording Freedom at Last.

Lead singer Paul Weston is featured in Satisfied. Tenor Bruce Hosman is featured in Then I Met the Master and Still in the Fire. Baritone Gary Kohlstaedt is featured in Looking for Him, which he wrote. Gary also wrote What Kind of Man, which features pianist and singer Linda Hosman. Linda also wrote and performs Take it to Jesus. Bass singer Allen Kohlstaedt is featured in Everywhere I Go.

Other musicians are Raymond Barker on lead guitar, Melvin Riggs on the bass guitar, and Jim Mansfield on the drums.

Since the recording of this C D, our founder, Paul Weston has stepped down, due to Parkinson’s disease and has been replaced by Rob Saak. Our Bass player, Melvin Riggs, has passed on to be with our Lord and was replaced by his son, Ryan Riggs.
